As filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's past comes to haunt him again, with prospects of a rape trial looming large on the horizon, actress Pretti Jaiin - who had accused the celebrated filmmaker of having raped her repeatedly - dangling the bait of film offers, is not ready to forgive and forget.
'I will wait for 100 years'
The trial may see the light of the day after a wait of seven long years, but Pretti is not disheartened. "I will wait for 100 years if need be. I'm patient enough to see the man, who molested me physically and mentally, punished by the court of law. And I have full faith in Indian judiciary," says she.
'Madhur is a womanizer'
With the passage of time, will she consider forgiving the man, who has allegedly caused pain to her? Without a moment's hesitation, Pretti replies: "No way! It's a question of my dignity and the honour of all the women in this world, so I will never compromise! Madhur is womanizer! He has exploited not only me, but many women in the name of film offers. And crime against women must not go unpunished!"
Battle lines drawn
In our social system, where a terrorist like Kasab is not punished for years, despite all the proofs against him, is she ready for an exhausting and long battle ahead? "This is a mental block and my fight is against this mindset. I know that truth can be troubled, but it can't be defeated! So, I am ready to wait till eternity because God's made me tough internally, and I plan to win in the end!"
'Not husband material'
But, as a woman, what's her take on Madhur's wife Renu, who will unnecessarily be pained in this fight? Getting emotional, Pretti says: "I feel bad for Renu, but it's her misfortune that she's married to such a man, who treats women like sex objects. But, I can't help her in this agony of hers." What if Madhur divorces Renu and offers to marry Pretti, even offering her a lead role? There's determination in her voice, as she says: "I will never marry Madhur, he's not husband material! And I would rather die than work with a man like him!"
